There are around 50 fruit trees in the Millfields Community Orchard which is in South Millfields, stretching from behind the lock-keepers cottage to behind the electricity sub-station. On Saturday 22nd May we will be repairing and replacing the guards around the trees.
We will be starting at 11.00 and expect to finish around 14.00. If you would like to join us please contact chair@millfieldsusers.org.uk or trees@treemusketeers.org.uk. You may want to wear stout shoes or boots and bring your own gardening or work gloves.
Hi, i would like to know, is it possible to pick some fruit from the trees? If yes, what kind of fruit will be?
I have mobility problem and no car, so i am not able to go to pick fruits from PYO places.
Thank you.
Regards
Hi Suzy
I’ve taken over responding to queries and note that it’s about a year since you wrote this…. but to answer your question: yes please help yourself to fruit from the trees in the South Millfields orchard. The main fruits are apples… if you look on the orchard notice boards it tells you which trees have which fruits. There are also damsons and pears; there were apricots but I think that tree died.
